Heading into the Basspro Southern Opens, on Smith Lake in Alabama, nearly every angler was seeking one of the remaining spots for the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic.
With fall conditions setting in, X Zone Lures Pro Elite Brandon Lester was able to finish with a third place overall performance with his 33lb 7oz bag.
With not only the pressure of trying to be one more pro to compete in the 2018 GEICO Bassmaster Classic at Lake Hartwell next year, the anglers also had a chance to win a Skeeter ZX200 and Yamaha SHO 200 boat, motor package.
Brandon was already qualified for the Bassmaster Classic going into the event, so he was able to take some of the pressure off himself by focusing on fishing.
With some cooler fall conditions, the 21,000 acre reservoir provided some challenges with clear water and rocky shorelines but our own X Zone Pro Elite Brandon Lester was able to catch them using X Zone Lures.
He was throwing the X Zone Lures 6" Finesse Worm on a shaky head and caught them up on the creek in order to get some bites.
Smith Lake is known to be a challenge to the pros because of it's clear water and tendency to hold smaller fish. The spotted bass and largemouth's have been improving in size over the years and tournament weights are steadily seeing a jump in size but make for challenging catches.
Although beat out by Jesse Wiggins and Rick Morris, Brandon was able to secure a third place finish.
Take a look at the video that Brandon created giving a breakdown of what he used on Smith Lake, including X Zone Lures.
